On 17th March 2015 in the “Kruk” Hotel near the dam on the Sulejów Reservoir, a conference was held to initiate the MONSUL Project. We had the pleasure of hosting over 50 guests, representing various circles interested in the Sulejów Reservoir. Apart from the numerous representatives of local government, administration, communities, sport clubs and non-governmental organisations (such as the “Dolina Pilicy” - Pilca Valley Association), the meeting was also attended by a delegation from our partner in Norway – the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) of Oslo – namely:  dr Magdalena Kempa, Torulv Tjomsland, John Rune Selvik.

We have the pleasure of inviting you to the MONSUL project inauguration conference: “The Analysis of Factors Affecting the Ecological Condition of the Sulejów Reservoir Waters Based on Continuous Monitoring and an Integrated 3D Model of the Reservoir”.

2 march 2015
The Norwegian inauguration of the MONSUL project took place in Lillehammer on 24–28 February 2015.

The detailed objectives and scope of the MONSUL Project are as follows:
  • installation and commissioning of a measurement system for the assessment of reservoir water quality (floating on the surface of the reservoir and transmitting on-line data to a computer). The following parameters will be monitored: water temperature, pH, oxygen concentration, salination, chlorophyll concentration, Ntotal and Ptotal.
  • development of a GIS database for the Sulejów Reservoir area,
  • development of a 3D model of the Sulejów Reservoir. The model will enable calculations of temperature gradients, flow rates and pollution concentrations as well as the simulation of the ecological condition of the reservoir,
  • publication of the results via the website, magazine articles as well as meetings and seminars.
